Treefort Music Fest With Kids

Treefort Music Fest has been a Boise staple since 2012, and HUNDREDS of bands are perform each year at Julia Davis Park and other venues across Downtown Boise. Alongside the insane amount of live music, there’s all kinds of other events happening too. However, it’s not just an event for adults. Here’s your guide to experiencing Treefort Music Fest with kids.

Kidfort

One example of kid-focused experiences at Treefort is “Kidfort!” ALL Kidfort programming is free and open to the public. In addition to Kidfort programming, more than half of the shows at Treefort Music Fest are in all ages venues. The fest allows kids under the age of 12 to attend the festival for free, when accompanied by an adult. The whole fam will enjoy live performances, workshops, food + drink, hands-on activities, and more.

Some examples of free activities at Kidfort include music, jump roping, sidewalk chalk, crafts, bubbles, puppet shows, music lessons, dancing, and watching kid’s bands.

Tips for Treeforting With Kids

Here’s some hot tips for hanging at Treefort with kids:

  • Kids 12 and under are free to attend Treefort with adult pass holders (It’s free for everyone to enter the “Fort Zone” of Julia Davis Park).
  • You can bring strollers, blankets, snacks/emergency Goldfish into Main Stage/Julia Davis Park, but no chairs are allowed. Other items NOT allowed are listed here. There are water stations around to fill up your own water bottles.
  • Plan how you’ll get around. If you’re going to more locations than just Julia Davis/Main Stage, you’ll be doing some walking/biking/or bus riding as the venues spread across downtown. Check out the Treeline Bus Route here. (There are sometimes even bands on the bus!) Also, comfy shoes are a must.
  • Dress for the weather. Treefort weather can be rainy, muddy, snowy, or full of sunshine! That’s Boise in March for ya. Check the weather before you go.
  • Parking can be hard to find, but one way around it is to park at the mall and take the Park & Ride option! Just note that there are no busses on Sunday. Busses are free for wristband holders. You can also park near a Treeline stop downtown and take the bus to your desired Treefort venue.
  • There are bathrooms, but get ready to use the porta-potty! Otherwise venues have their own bathrooms.
  • Bring ear protection! If you’re attending the shows, ear protection is a must. There are a bunch of booths with ear plugs, but you’ll have to bring your own if your little one is too small or doesn’t enjoy the ones that stick in your ear instead of over the ear.
  • Download the free Treefort app to plan out your experience, get acquainted with the layout, and see all the kid-friendly events. The free app includes a TON of info and lets you create your own schedule. There’s an “Out With The Kids” curated schedule on the app with a schedule that’s perfect for Treeforting with kids!
  • Here are a BUNCH of the events you might want to consider being down there for.

Which parts are you gonna be at? We’ll see you there!
