Plan your visit

Gates open at 6:00 pm to allow time for eating, drinking and enjoying the Chateau grounds before the 8:15 pm concert.

Concerts last between 60 and 90 minutes.

The indoor area of the Chateau is only available to those with dinner reservations. Restrooms are found on the West side of the building near the grounds entrance.

Bring your own picnic or pre-purchase themed refreshments from Roghani’s Restaurant (located on site at the Chateau).

All alcohol must be purchased on site. Outside alcohol is not permitted.

Roghani’s Restaurant will be open for a prix-fixe dinner before the concert. Call to make a reservation (208) 947-2840.

Seating

All attendees must have a ticket. Please be sure to add a free child’s ticket for anyone under the age of 14.

For those who’ve chosen lawn seating, we recommend bringing your own blankets and/or low beach chairs. Chairs that block the view of other patrons will not be permitted.

Concert seating in our provided chairs is unassigned and first come, first serve.

Table seating will be assigned to ensure clear sight lines.. Our ushers guide you to your assigned table.

Join us for the 72nd annual Art in the Park on September 11, 12, and 13. Boise Art Museum’s Art in the Park is a beloved cultural event, widely recognized throughout the Northwest. We’re turning 20!

September 7, 2026 will mark the 20th anniversary of being the place where books and people meet. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the bookstore is inviting the community to an all day early-00s-themed birthday party on Saturday September 12, 2026, complete with cake, photo ops, giveaways, and much more. 

The celebration starts at 10 AM, and we will have activities throughout the day in-store and outside on our newly-renovated patio area. Spin the wheel when you walk in and win a prize ranging from pieces of candy or free stickers to store discounts and blind-dates with a book. Kids Club Story Time is at 10:30 AM,  Kim Sherman-Labrum will be face-painting from 11 AM to 2 PM, and local tattoo artist Deb Bryant will be in our event space with flash tattoos ready to go from 12 PM to 6 PM.

Homeschool Days @ Discovery Center of Idaho

During the school year, we will be welcoming homeschool groups to reserve and pay for their visit in advance ($15 per chaperone, $10 per child; there is no membership discount available for this program).

To enhance the experience of all of our visitors, we are limiting ticket sales, so we ask that each group attend only one Homeschool Day per exhibition.

Registrants must purchase tickets* in advance at our website; tickets for each event will go on sale two weeks ahead of the event. Please carefully consider the date options before you register, as all sales are final and we are unable to refund any ticket sales for this special program. On each date, doors will be open for registrants to check in using their pre-purchased tickets from 10 am – 12 pm at the front desk. Late arrival tickets will NOT be honored.

We are excited to offer the purchase of special take-home activity kits related to the current exhibition made just for our Homeschool day families! Details about the kits can be found using the registration link for the specific date. We ask that each family purchase only one set, which contains the materials for multiple activities, some of which can be done as a team and some which can be done for up to 4 individuals.

* You can park ANYWHERE BUT HERE. If you park in a residential area, don’t be a dummy by blocking a driveway. Be kind.
* DO NOT DRIVE DRUNK. It’s not all about you and your vehicle getting home. You are risking other people’s well-being. An Uber is MUCH cheaper than a DUI. It’s also a great way to be 86’ed from Das Alpenhaus.
* Drink responsibly. If we feel you’ve had enough for one evening, we have the right to cut you off. Don’t ruin it for everyone.
* Rain or shine, this baby happens. You are welcome to bring a picnic table tent cover NO BIGGER than 10′ x 10′ with NO SIDES. Ask your neighbors before just popping it up.
* DO NOT move tables / chairs. The venue is set up to adhere to fire safety concerns. We want people to be able to get out quickly if need be.
* You must purchase tokens at the security entrance to buy beer or wine. Waitstaff does not sell them. You will have to get back in line. Think ahead!
* If you buy too many tokens, have no fear – we are awesome and allow you to use that token for one full liter of beer or any bottle of wine in the shop under $20 through the end of the year…yes, you get 3 more months to use it. If you haven’t used it by then, that’s your bad.
* This event is family friendly. If you decide you’re going to be a jackass, we will tell you to leave. Your attitude will not be our problem.
* This is a hectic event – controlled chaos, if you will. We are working hard. Waitstaff only have so many hands. They wait one one table at a time in their section. They won’t be back until they hit the other tables. Be decisive…think ahead!

What the Heck is a Flywheel?

Here’s a hint, it has nothing to do with a house fly. A flywheel on a tractor is a heavy wheel that stores kinetic energy generated by a tractor’s engine to help power farm equipment to do work. Did you know that tractors (and their flywheels) were revolutionary in advancing farming? These important machines make it possible to feed more Americans with less water and land, thereby making food more affordable. We think that is something worth celebrating.

Join us for a fabulous time cracking geodes at the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology (IMMG), 2455 Old Penitentiary Rd. Boise. Six stations set up under canopies to crack your geode. Be amazed at the surprise inside your rock. Fun for all ages.

Let’s Dig into Geodes and see what’s inside!
12 noon – 3 pm

Join us at the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology (IMMG), next to the Old Pen, for a fun time geode-cracking, an easy 40-minute geology hike on the nearby hillside and a Museum visit.

If you have never seen a geode cracked open with a giant pipe-cutter, you are in for an exciting moment. What Mother Nature has created is truly amazing.

Geode-cracking takes place in 6 half-hour sessions from 12 noon – 3 pm outside under shade canopies on the grass of the historic Women’s Ward. Please register at your preferred time.

Take an optional hike before or after your session. Hikes scheduled between 12:30 and 2 pm.

Delicious hot dogs will be on sale by Updog Street Food beginning at 11:30 am.

In this hands-on lesson, students investigate how wildfire behaves in three different Idaho ecosystems—and how those patterns are shifting due to climate change. Working in small groups, they explore photos and plant materials, build a model of their ecosystem, and simulate how fire spreads. These 60-minute lessons start every hour from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. Reserve your free tickets and arrive a little early so we can get started promptly in the WaterShed classroom.

This program is open to all ages, with a focus on 8-12 year olds. All youth must be accompanied by an adult.
Participants may also explore the exhibit hall and outdoor river campus between 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.
