Teacher appreciation week is always in the first week of May, and it’s the week when we get to tell our teachers that we appreciate all that they do for our kids. If you’re looking for a way to recognize the effort of the teachers in your life, I’ve got a few ideas for you to help you in celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week in Boise!
At its core, Teacher Appreciation Week isn’t about gifts as much as it’s about letting our teachers know we see all they do for our kids. It’s also an important lesson in gratitude for our kids to show our teachers that we think they are literal superheroes!

Handwritten Thank Yous
The most meaningful thing you can do for the teacher in your life is to write something from the heart. Did your kids ever do those “All About My Mom” pages on Mother’s Day? I LOVE getting those! Why not do one for your teacher? We made one for you here from Boise With Kids. Especially if your kids are younger, those answers are precious. A handwritten note from parents and kids is so special and lets their teacher know that all of their work is appreciated.
Support Local
A gift card to a local coffee shop, book store, or restaurant is a great gift for a teacher and their community. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, but going with a local shop, maybe one close to your school, is a great option if you’re looking to include a gift card with a thank you note.
Classroom Supplies
Chances are your teacher has a wish list of classroom supplies that they need. Ask your teacher if they have a wish list, or what you can buy them for their classroom. This is such a thoughtful and practical gift that’ll make teaching your kids easier.
Sing Their Praises
Another really helpful thing you can do to show your teacher how much you appreciate them is to write an email to their principal or superintendent. Singing their praises to their bosses ensures they can be recognized by their superiors for an even bigger impact.
Give Back for More Than Just Today
Remember your teacher even when it’s not Teacher Appreciation Week! That means volunteering when you’re able, responding to their emails, remembering to send back folders when you’re asked to, taking their input during parent teacher conferences, being a chaperone on a field trip, etc. Sometimes this is the best way to truly show your appreciation!

From Your Student
If you like the idea of a mug, craft, or treat for your teacher, allow your student to take the reins! This ensures they receive a little something while also involving the person who knows them best: their student. It also allows them to have some ownership over the gift, making it extra special for everyone.
The way teachers give of themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally to serve our children is beyond worthy of praise and appreciation (that hopefully goes beyond just this week!).What are you doing for Teacher Appreciation week in Boise?
