At Boise Bicycle Project, we empower youth through bicycle access, hands-on maintenance education, and safe riding practices. Our mission is to ensure every child experiences the freedom and independence that comes with riding a bike. Through community-driven bike giveaways, donated bicycles are refurbished by volunteers and mechanics, then given to kids and teens across Boise. Our youth programs teach essential repair skills, foster confidence, and encourage problem-solving, from hands-on repair nights to mobile maintenance services and apprenticeship opportunities. We also offer sliding-scale bikes for children aged 4–11, providing an affordable option from $25 to $75 that includes a bicycle, helmet, light, and lock – families can choose the amount that is meaningful to them. Whether learning the basics, earning a bike, or gaining vocational experience, every young rider has the tools they need to keep rolling on two wheels!
